IS DIOR ROUGE TRAFALGAR, A BACCARAT ROUGE 540 CLONE?

Baccarat Tips Video Source & Information:

From the shared name of “Rouge,” to scent profile, technical aspects and Demachy’s inability to create anything unique, Trafalgar Rouge has a striking resemblance to the much copied Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccart Rouge 540. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck….

  1. I have BR540 and a decent of the Extrait. I also have Rouge Trafalgar. The only similarity to me is the sweet note (and it did remind me if BR540). But, for me, the sour grapefruit and tart berries takes RT in a completely different direction. It's fruity and playful and that's not BR540 in my opinion.
I would agree that the Maison Dior line-up gets more boring with just about every new release. And the reformulations of my favourites, like Gris Montaigne and Feve delicieuse leave me wondering if something is missing in them. And they keep discontinuing the good ones!! The SA who sold me Rouge Trafalgar said Feve will be discontinued next

  2. I’m smelling both next to each other and the most they resemble each other is through the sweetness but that’s like saying every cookie you’ve eaten is a copy because it has sugar in it…… it’s the ethyl maltol but that’s in almost everything nowadays. Which I love.

  3. I agree bro Dior has been going down the drain. I would argue with people before the relaunch of Diors Prive line in 2017 to 2018 that they were the #1 frag house. They've made so many masterpieces from Feve Delicieuse, Bois D'Argent, Farenheit Le Parfum etc. I even love Sauvage but Spice Blend, Rouge Trafalgar and quite a few of their new offerings just don't cut it at all. Kilian has become my number fragrance house now while Dior continues to fall. It's ashame that a leader and daring frag house such as Dior go out this way. I hope they get back to their golden days.

  4. I agree 200%. I am a Dior fanboy and I too see the downward spiral that is happening. The original privee line (Bois De Argent, Vetiver, Mitzah etc) were once strong, lasting, well constructed gems. Now that Demachy has taken over, he has neutered or discontinued the originals and replaced them with a group (Maison) of rice paper thin scents that dissapear within an hour. Even the once mighty Ambre Nuit and Oud Ispahan are now shadows of their former selves. The Asian market may favor scents that are light, but most of the western world still want frags that make a statement. Let’s not forget the whole purpose of perfume is to smell good…to other people. If someone has to get within 12 inches of you (within 60 minutes of applying) to notice your SOTD…what’s the point?
