Free Odds Bet – How to Play Craps Pt. 8
The free odds bet in craps is the very best bet the casino offers. It’s on the craps table, but it isn’t marked anywhere. It’s kind of like ordering a special thats not on the menu.

When you make an odds bet, the casino pays out at the true odds, making it a zero house edge bet. Unless you are a skilled card counter in the game of blackjack, you cant do better than the odds bet in craps.
Here’s how it works, it is a extra wager that is added to a flat bet on the pass, don’t pass, come or don’t come.
There are rules for the odds bet. It must be made in multiples of the flat bet, and there is always a limit.
While the pass line and come are contract bets and cannot be removed. The odds bets can be removed at anytime. The casinos will happily allow you to remove your odds because they have a zero house edge, but there isn’t a good reason that you should ever do so.

There is something important about the odds bet you should understand. Making an odds bet DOES NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING. It does not change the probabilities that your point number will be rolled before the seven.
The Free Odds bet is a great deal when you put money on it that you were going to bet anyway. If you were going to bet $20 per round. It would be a better deal to bet $5 on the pass line and back it up with $15 in odds. The overall house edge is lowered and the chance of winning more increases but you are putting more money at risk in the short term.

  1. Laying odds may seem trickier than “taking” odds, but its really not. its just the exact opposite of the pass line/come odds bet. Its important you know the True odds of the numbers 6:5, 3:2, 2:1, when you do, its much easier!

Short answer = always bet in multiples of $6 on the points 6 and 8 / multiples of $3 on the points 5 and 9 / multiples of $2 on the points of 4 and 10

What I describe below is for a $5 minimum table, and example I give is for 3,4,5x odds table

    Long answer=
On the point of 6 or 8, you take odds of $5 to win $6 (6:5), so the opposite would be, lay $6 to win $5 (5:6), so when laying odds, always bet in multiples of $6 on the points 6 and 8. ($6, $12, $18, $24 $30) *note $30 would be the maximum- $30 would win $25 or 5x your $5 don't bet – $6 would be the minimum so that the payout is at least the table minimum of $5

On the point of 5 or 9,  you take odds of $6 to win $9 (3:2), so the opposite would be to lay $9 to win $6(2:3), so when laying odds, always bet in multiples of $3 on the points 5 and 9 ($9, $12, $15, $18, ……up to $30) *note $30 would be the maximum- $30 would win $20 or 4x your $5 don't bet. I would guess most people bet $15 to win $10 or $30 to win $20 just to keep it simple.

On the point of 4 or 10, you take odds of $5 to win $10 (2:1), so the opposite would be to lay $10 to win $5 (1:2), so when laying odds, always bet in multiples of $2 on the points of 4 and 10 ($10, $12,$14,$16, ……up to $30) *note $30 would be the max- $30 would win $15 or 3x your $5 don't bet

On a 3,4,5x odds table, maximum lay odds bets are always 6x your flat don’t bet. If you always lay max odds and are at a 3,4,5x table, that makes it super simple, just multiply flat bet by 6.

Hope this helps some, and stay tuned for a video 🙂

  2. Craps is the only game I play and it has to be $5 minimum and at least 20X odds. This narrows it down to almost only Main Station Casino. So far, I am ahead of the house. I limit my losses to $700 and my winnings at $2000 for each Las Vegas visit. It is a game of pure chance, but it offers you almost an even bet with the house.

  3. Great video as always. I always stumble when trying to explain the free odds to someone. Maybe I'll just show them this video in the future lol

  4. Brushing up again. I ended up making a table like you suggested. ….i'm headed to the casino today…. wish me luck! Thanks!

  5. thank you so much for helping me understand house edge, odds, and basic strategy
