Poker Strategy: Flopping Top Set With Pocket Aces

Poker Strategy Info And Source:

In this hand we flop top set with pocket aces and decide to start by trapping the flop. However, once we reach the river there are hands out there that beat us so can we still go for value?

  1. I dont mind check back top set here, we need some strong hands in our check range otherwise they can just abuse you. Would bet top set on a 2 to a flush board for sure.

  2. side note: villain had a healthy 19% equity when closing the turn action, calling $50 for a pot of $350 – happens when you slow-play.

  3. Seems to me that about half of people who call in don't really want advice. I'm not sure what they want, maybe confirmation that they are good players or at least did the right thing, but it's not advice.

  4. I like just calling the turn on alot of turns the 9 is not one of them. There are a bad ton of pair + open ended hands that weaker players never fold regardless of sizing on the turn. The only way ur gonna get to play for stacks on the river is if they draw out on you or make a smaller set. I dont think people are just calling on the turn to hit two outs so if they are gonna make the smaller set they already likely have it.

  5. Legit terrible play. Never check ur value! Make money is the name of the game. Even if I flop quads Aces as fhe 5bettor i am gonna bet the flop. I dont care if there is nothing to call me. If betting has higher ev than other option then u bet. Simple as that

  6. gawd caller was so full of himself talking over Bart constantly, you called into HIS show and HE has been playing poker profesh. for 15 plus years, have some respect

  7. How can we slow play our hand the whole way. Then raise the river when the most obvious straight gets there ? The seemed like backwards poker. Player seems to put to much optimism of value combos that are losing to his set, justifying the river raise.

  8. caller was a little late looking for value from his hand, now he wants to put in chips, when he is behind.
