Poker Strategy: Should We Lead When We Make The Nuts?

  1. shove turn! short stacked guy showed strength and is going to call off if he has 2pr or set (maybe even with the A-high flush draw), and is drawing pretty slim, UTG has a one pair hand like AQ almost for sure and can't suck out but might call because of pot odds. you could win a very nice pot here. plus, that is a horrible spot to give a free cards to two players…

  2. When u make your draw (to the nuts) on the turn, at 1-2 or 1-3 there are almost no circumstances when you shouldn't be betting for value, regardless of position.

  3. had a similar hand i limped in mid pos Q10 board came out KJJ villian bets 15 i call turn is 9 i bet 25 villain calls river K villain bets 30 i call he shows K4 i think my mistake was not shoving the turn because i gave him free card which gave him the boat

  4. Bart or anyone. Can you expand on the thought regarding the the exploit that Bart wanted to write about? I didn't grasp what exactly was being discussed. Thank You.

  5. I can see donking the turn here. When UTG only min-raises, it look like, he is trying to freeze the action and make sure, he get to see the river for cheap. So especially when he get called in both spots, I don’t think, he will always bet again.

Donking turn your hand pretty face up. But even so if one of them, or both of them, have a flush draw or a set, what are they going to do about it? They can either call and hope to improve, or they can fold out there share of equity, and you don’t really care that much, which option they choose.

And I think, you will also get plenty of actions from hands, which are drawing slim or dead, because people generally hate to fold something like two pair or an overpair. Or they could have something like T9 and think, they have 8 outs, while in reality they have 3 outs to a chopper.

  6. As someone who spent a lot of time playing a mixture of 1-3,2-5,5-10 I would say having a third party analyze any 1-3 hand is pretty pointless. When I brought my 2-5/5-10 style of play over to 1-3 (while waiting for a seat to open) I got smashed. Biggest problem was I was playing no limp/ my opening raise was always 15. 15 with A-J was standard for me but I was only getting called by 9s+ for fifteen. Then the ace flops and your getting crushed by their Aq. Finally I just tossed everything I’ve learned out the window and realized they are all there for fun and started limping, making raises to 11 pre flop and went with the flow. Don’t ever overthink 1-3 or you’ll drive yourself crazy
