Poker Strategy Info And Source:

One more Hand of the Day is coming from Live at the Bike. I played this cash game hand against David and I made some mistakes.I definitely missed my chance to win a bigger pot, but this hand is good for poker analysis. What poker strategy would you apply in this situation? Share your thoughts in a comment below.

Peace,

  1. Theory would have guided you to the correct decisions. True Exploitative play is ONLY possible if GTO style is Mastered. I wouldv'e eatin that guy alive in that situation.

  2. That is a nice move repping a straight or trips but when I have a pair of Q's high, I sometimes miss that and If you are just looking at pairs and knowing you have the two pair highest on the board plus with having a flush draw I would have re raised to probably 6,000 looking at the size of the pot and wanting to avoid a big loss and truly test a straight. I would hope my 6,000 on the turn would have ended the hand. I think even though you might miss value sometimes, you also are missing the bigger bad beats more often as well. It just depends if doing the more conservative play you just have to look at if it's working over time with growing your bankroll or loosing it still.

  3. He raised the turn For a checkback on the river he gets a cheaper showdown on the river because if he just called your turn bet the pot would be $9000 and you are always going to bet more than $3300 on the river when the pot is $9000 (in your video you actually mentioned your plan was likely going to bomb the river for a close to pot or pot bet on the river with 2pair, balancing your bluffs). His raise lets him get a cheap showdown it would be like you betting $3300 on the river because he knows if you flat call That you will check to him with AA KK 2pair and likely all sets you will only reraise if you have j9, maybe u will raise top set but nevertheless his raise allows him to have pot control and if u do reraise his turn bet he will likely fold, and if you have a set of TT 44 and you dont raise his turn bet and the board pairs on the river, he knows you will lead out out of flow on the river but it would be a nasty spot for him if river comes a queen, so he loses more than he should if a queen hits anf you have TT or 44 since hes more likely to call rivrer but doesnt mean he cant still make a good fold if u donk lead and board pairs. his raise is a cheap showdown if you have AA KK or a 2pair as if you call and check to him on river hes checking back. I like his play and wasnt aware of how clever this play is done by villain. He minimizes the amount he loses on top pair top kicker because if he just calls your turn bet and you make a big bet on the river you still have the bluffs in your range and villain doesnt want to face a tough decision on the river to a big bet. The times you are bluffing he loses 7-9grand but thats like 25% of the time since your an uber genius and you have an optimal bluffing frequency and your a pro he knows your good and hel lose more from you having a better hand here most of the time than win when you fire 7-9k on the river. I watched the first 7 mins so im posting this before i found out what you did after his raise on the turn.

  4. Haha Alec!!! Lol at least you still won could’ve won more but I still can’t knock you your on another level, people or average poker players don’t have the ability to break down hands the way I’ve seen you in your career! I like all of the great points you mentioned down from opening utg all the way to the turn not the river though lol ! Big fan thanks for the advice! Doing it!!!

  5. I would have guessed he had an ace from the way he bet and played the pre-flop, flop and turn. Which means I would have concluded he had one pair at best. That would have guided my betting. I say this because I've seen that betting pattern over and over and over from the holders of ace-high hands. So, for me, memory and experience trump game theory,

  6. Thanks for the content ! That kind of play (buying a cheap showdown) happens frequently on the stakes that I play 1/2. I like the way you tought vs that odd raise for the stakes you play. After your reasoning I wouldn't want to shove on the turn for all the reasons you mentioned… it's either A) wants to drag you in with a monster, in this case you wouldn't shove. Or B ) wants a cheap showdown I guess if you're not sure you could cut a line like i do vs those types of weird plays. Call his min raise then bet half his stack (5 to 6k on the river… to get some value since he won't call a shove) I know that you miss value long term if you do that. But vs that kind of player I think it's the optimal line since they won't call a shove with worst than QT but they still will get their "discounted showdown" if they don't lose their stack. This is 100% exploitative and now you have a nice mental note against him in the future. You played the hand great, you're just not used to play with those types of players at the crazy high limits that you play haha.

  7. Your not the only one who's been confused by a jack ass … the only thing you can do is make a mental note about that particular player because he will try it again, and then just punish the bad out of him .. ruthlessly… 👿👿👿
