10 Tips for Winning at Online Poker in 2020: Online poker tips & strategies- Tournament & Cash game

Poker Tips Video Source & Information:

Learn how to improve your online poker game and win in online poker tournaments and online poker cash games In 2020. Here are ten tips for winning at online poker and avoiding potential pitfalls (READ FULL BLOG: https://www.consciouspoker.com/blog/10-tips-for-winning-at-online-poker/):

1) Understand the Online poker Landscape/Choose the Right Stakes:
This is a different player pool than you may be used to seeing at casinos. There will still be plenty of recreational players that make numerous mistakes. However, as you increase the stakes, you will find more multi-tabling professionals who are using statistical software as they play.

2) Make Sure You Trust Your Poker Site/App:
Do your research before you begin playing on any website or app. Make sure you understand their payout process. Also, read up about the level of competition on the site.

3) Manage Your Money and Environment (Bankroll management):
Manage your bankroll effectively. Of course, you never should be playing with money you can’t afford to lose. In general, you should never have more than 5% of your poker bankroll in play at once.

4) Be Ready for a Faster Pace than Live Poker
You will possibly be dealt twice as many hands per hour than in live poker. It may feel like online poker is poker on steroids! You’ll need to make quicker decisions as you actually have only 30 seconds to 1.5 minutes to act before your cards are folded.

5) Get Used To Having No Live Reads
Pay attention to how quickly your opponent bets when they are bluffing or value betting. Sometimes your opponent will make a very quick call which means they did not even consider raising, and they likely have either a draw or a mediocre hand. Make use of every bit of information you have in the absence of live reads.

6) Open a Tight Range of Hands from Early Position
In general, online poker players like to 3-bet (or reraise) more than live players. This means that if you open raise a loose range of hands from early position, you will be attacked more often by re-raises, and it will be harder to see the flop at a good price.

7. Be Careful with Flat-Calling Raises When There Are Aggressive Players Left Behind You:
The reasoning here is similar to tip #6. You don’t want to be calling raises with a wide range of hands when you don’t even know the real price you’ll be paying or if you will get to see the flop.

8. Continuation Bet Dry Ace High and King high Boards as the Preflop Raiser
Even against calling stations, these bluffs still work enough of the time to be profitable.

9. Re-Raise Often in Position Against Loose Openers
When you are in the Hijack, Cutoff, and Button, you are in the prime seats to print money. When your opponents make the mistake of opening with too many hands, take advantage of it by 3-betting them.

10. The Biggest Money Saver of All: Fold Your Bluff Catchers to Turn and River Raises
When you raise preflop, bet the flop, and make a strong bet on the turn and then get raised, proceed with extreme caution.

  1. i like the micro stakes tip that on the T or riv when facing huge bets, you're most likely beat

  2. You're right about facing big turn and river bets in micro cash games, as most micro players are usually multi tabling and just waiting for premium hands that improve after the flop.

  3. Great content thanks! One question in lower stakes say $11 tourneys – I often find when I c-bet small on a dry flop say 1/3 bet I often get raised – I feel it seems they always interpret this small bet as a sign of weakness? What are your thoughts re this? Thanks 🙂 – Is it worth c-betting bigger in these smaller buy-in tourneys?

  4. Very good information, i have ONLINE tournament coming next week, wish me luck. $80K GUARANTEED

  5. Are you telling me to not call with KQ or AJ? For you does this apply every single time or depends on position?

  6. Hi Alec, I’m a big fan. I’m considering joining your online course. I was just wondering to you offer private one to one lessons?

  7. I wish You made this video in the beginning of covid: casinos being closed I went from crushing livepoker to playing online for the 1st time in a long time and got slapped online the last 4 months like butt cheeks spread. It was disgusting. Its very weord i rely on gto but its as if i get a higher number of bad spots than good spots when i play. Its weird need someone like Alec to literally watch one of my sessions to show him im not losin my mind. and then yes i get tilted and lose more than I should (a bit of entitlement tilt like why cant i have villains spots) because im sick of the cycle But Im recalibrating & will try again go back to basics use your sheets. miss livepoker so much—playin at home im losin my damn mind and losing way too much money. I hate my house Now cuz ive negatively associated it with losing so Im going to have to find a new place to live or hire a holy monk or shaaman to throw some holy water around and chant some spells & incantations so that I reaffirm my place is a place of positivity & wins (Yeah its this extreme need an excorcism done on my laptop too just so it “feels real” to my mind like the flow of everything is now corrected and clear in order to dissasociate my preconceived notions)
