How NOT to Play TOP PAIR in Poker Tournaments

  1. With this stacks i would always go all in on the turn. Reason is he is not folding any semibluff, but maybe he is folding them on the river. To fold the river is INSANE!!!

  2. I would've 4 bet the flop to about $100 or even shove. That way you get maximum value from all flush/straight draws and you still have equity if you are behind. The opponent could have two pair or have 10-9 which is probably the most likely candidate for a check raise.

  3. I would shove in the turn because I guess ether he have flush draw or J with good kicker

  4. AJ or KJ would be my guess here for villain's hand.

I would've shoved the turn because with that board texture, a lot of scary cards might show up on the river like any 5, 6, 9, 10. any of these cards will make a 1 card straight draw on the board. also if a 4 or 8 comes, its also bad because BB's range is too wide. I wouldn't wanna call a river shove by the villain on such a board. So better shove ourselves on the turn while we are ahead most of the times.

Just my thoughts. I'm not that experienced btw. so go easy on me all u poker nerds… :p

  5. Could easily be a guy overplaying a worst two pair or a guy that triple triple barrels flush draws. This shows how knowing the player is keywhere explotative play comes in,but without that info i think this has to be a call on river getting 2/1,GTO is helpful withut player reads

  6. I would just jammed on the turn only because hero is so short stack. Even though villain range is very wide, I still don’t think villain is playing just air. Honestly believe Hero is beaten, but either way I believe hero should just jam on the turn vs calling and for sure call the river.

Folding on the river is a huge mistake

  7. Because it's a tournament, I think you have to shove on the turn. If you're behind you still have lots of outs and the villain just folding isn't a bad outcome either.
