Your balance is not enough for the system to shine, so you tend to bring down your bet when you could have won enough to end the session there. The beginning of the shoe is where you see one side winning heavily, so capitalize on it. Hopefully you bring your balance up to 1k so you can play the system at its full potential., 200 units to play around should be enough for 10 units per session.
Edit: Also watch out for chops, if you are at base bet, the chop is going to kill the system, so keep that in mind. It's mostly a house way system at this point.
