  1. Hi! It's pretty rare that JV plays side bets. He plays the Fortunes Side Bet here. They can add some fun to your Blackjack game but why give the casino an additional edge? I decided to pull some stats for you all from Wizards of Odds:
    First, what is the Fortunes Blackjack side bet? Fortunes Blackjack is a side bet based on the player's initial two cards and the dealer's up card. All 3 cards. Any total of 19 to 21 will win, with the amount depending on the exact total and composition. Reportedly, the casino edge is 7.8 – 9% on side bets…yikes!!! Here are the payouts (remember, it is your 2 up cards and the dealer's first up card:)

    • Suited 678 – 100 to 1
    • 777 – 50 to 1
    • 678 – 30 to 1
    • Suited 21 – 10 to 1
    • 21 total – 3 to 1
    • 20 total – 2 to 1
    • 19 total – 2 to 1

  9. What happened at 10:00? Player had 14 dealer had 15. Why did the dealer draw again? Please excuse me if the reason is obvious I don’t know it all.
