The psychology goes like this: you know the odds are you're going to lose but you're greedy enough to play anyway.

If anything, it's the casino that is the real 'dark side'. They are the ones with the house edge and are completely okay with, as you say, brainwashing players into believing pass line and come bets are better.
I'm going to be going on the road soon and I love to play craps. Do you have a list of casinos that have dice craps.
