Merfolk Master “Nikachu” has been playing exclusively 🧜‍♀️Modern Merfolk🧜‍♂️ competitively for years. Adapting to the Modern MTG metagame, Nikachu keeps Merfolk competitive at a time when most pros think it has been surpassed by Humans or Spirits. With current competitive finishes on MTGO https://www.mtggoldfish.com/player/Nikachu Nikachu shows you gameplay and explains what to play and how to play it as Modern evolves. Subscribe to the channel to learn from a Merfolk Master who adjusts their deck over time; not replace it. Learn to Master your deck too!

  1. I really enjoy this channel, have been a subscriber for several years. Congratulations! You inspired me to pick up merfolk, although I don't really play competitively. About the same time I built merfolk, I also built a faerie/ninja tempo deck. I was very excited to see faeries on this channel and will be looking forward to occasional faerie content!

  2. You have been talking a lot about GDS, perhaps you should rent the deck and play a league with it, it would be interesting 😛

  3. I am also a yugioh player and the game has lower variance than magic. But turns take a long time. Decks are so consistent it's common for the player going first to combo for like 5 minutes. To pass to the opponent who tries to break the board they tried to setup.

  4. Hey Nikachu! Congratulations for your 10K subs, you deserve that and much more. I really love your channel.
As a chess and magic player I totally agree with you, in fact I've only played a couple of chess tournaments in the last year beacuse of the burnout. In this moment I'm having a better time playing magic. It's a hard road to me become a Chess Master, I'm not motivated enough and I don't wanna dedicate most of my time in that goal.

  5. I know you like Mario Maker so I made a level in MM2 to celebrate your 10K subs. Your name is in the description and at the end of the level. Maybe is not the best level but it has a lot of symbolism (vial, ben, kumena, trickster, adeppt, lords and masters).
Modern Merfolks VS Mario ID CK6-QKT-L9G
Of course Merfolks is hard to defeat 😉

  6. I don't think a single comprehensive book on MTG strategy and tactics is possible. The game is Turing complete, and the gameplay is some of the most complex of all existing games. I think you could write several books on just the literal meta-game of modern, and many books have been written on the complex skill of the bluff. Then, you'd also need to comprehensively rate and scale all of these cards, cards which are relevant to each other, in an ever-shifting game.

Note to self: I should write a book on MTG
