What’s the difference between Poker Stakes in 2020? (Micro/Low Stakes)

Learn Poker Video Source & Info:

I’m getting this question a lot, so I decided to record a video and show you the differences between the stakes.
As you probably already knew, the biggest difference between NL2, NL5, NL10 and all other stakes, is the level of play by your opponents. But there are other differences as well, especially when it comes to rake.

Here, I summarized the main differences between the stakes for you again:

Micro Stakes (NL2, NL5, NL10)
– Very tight and fishy games
-ABC Poker still works
-Learning how to value bet, bluff, and fold is hugely important
-The rake at Micro Stakes is usually insane.

Low Stakes (NL25, NL50)
-First signs of aggression
-Still a lot of tight players and a good amount of recreational players
-Rake is still pretty high

Low Stakes (NL100)
-A lot more solid opponents
.Still some tight regs and a good amount of recreational players
-People are more aware of the fundamentals and how the game actually works.
-Still a lot of room for exploitation

Low Stakes (NL200)
-Majority of the player pool consists of solid regulars
-Limited amount of recreational players
-Reasonably high rake
-you have to start to time select

  1. Does Artur coach? He seems to be very knowledgable about the micros and would be a great coach for those limits.

  2. Playing 5NLz lately and very small sample but I 100% agree the main things that affects your BB/100 are not value betting enough, when to double/triple barrel and when to make hero folds. The biggest clue to hero folding is people do not understand large bluffs on rivers so i'd say 90% of the time they have it in those spots. At what levels/stakes would you say you can start to replicate a jobs/wage, say £20k per year ? (i'm assuming you are working the same hours at poker as a job so like 50 hours playing/studying)

  4. Playing CG after a 5 years break (and this channel helps me get back on track), playing 2nl, I 5bet 9 times in 10k hands and got 2 folds, so I've faced 2 4b lights. I am surprised to see that you're saying that it's at NL50 that we'll see the first 4b lights. I've done a few 4b lights on this sample, other 2NL people are watching this channel etc. could it be specific to PokerStars? (playing Zoom 2 fwiw)

  5. at party poker fastfoward, what you talk about nl25~nl50, you can already see in nl5, the are really hard at party, too many "good" regs, but of course there are some fishs as well, but the game is a lot harder than you think.
