How To Play Ace-King Postflop When You MISS! [With Next Gen Poker]

Poker Strategy Info And Source:

Jonathan is joined by Rosey from Next Gen Poker to discuss a poker hand that Rosey played at the Texas Card House in Dallas.

The hand starts with Rosey deciding to squeeze from the big blind with ace-king offsuit against an opener and caller from the small blind.

Rosey tries to represent a strong over pair to the board as he bluffs into both opponent’s on the flop and then decides to jam on the turn with just ace high.

Jonathan talks about how you should be careful about continuation betting when you are out of position in multiway pots, especially in Texas where the players do not like to fold!

  1. What type of image do you have at the poker table and how do you use that to your advantage?

  2. Great play. I learn so much from these videos. Keep 'em coming. Here's what I don't get, though. Wouldn't somebody who had the nuts bet for value here? By shoving you would be losing out on a call. So it seems like a bluff to me. It's not like you're saying "I have it!", it's like you're saying "I have something and it's going to cost you a lot to see it". Obviously you guys know what you're doing. So many factors to consider.

  3. Literally have a memory of you saying don't put money in the pot with a missed AK because if a pot builds you are likely behind.

  4. "It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation." __Herman Melville

  5. Honestly, I don't think image played any role in this particular hand. I think you had one stubborn customer how maybe was floating with K10 s or K j s or whatever and just gave up on the turn. They might not even have been too afraid of the queen – in fact they might have been tempted to bluff with it but once you jam, well the hand is over. Image would matter if, say, they folded a queen there or an A 7. Then I would say his image paid off but more than likely villain just had nothing.

Most of the time people just play their own nature. Splashy players play splashy, tight players play tight, goofy players play goofy it's more about that then hero's image.
