  1. Thank you for describing implied odds so well. I’ve read about it several times and now it makes sense!

  2. Good stuff. Nice practical explanations. I think maybe the simplest way I've heard it.
One question : ie for 10 rule, ($10 bet) what is it about the opponent having altar $100 to make it profitable vs a smaller stack?

  3. Thank you Brian for putting some clear odds numbers down. I was already working on 10x for sets, but I had not incorporated a percentage for suited connectors or gappers. I knew that implied odds needed to exceed 10x but now I can evaluate better with these guidelines.

When are you going to play the drums for us or at least tell us why they are the backdrop?

  4. Implied odds for post-flop scenarios I do the following. We have Js10s on a board of 2s 9h 8c 3d. A flush draw with 1 over. Pot on turn is $30 and villain bets $25 so our immediate odds are 2.2/1 with 31%-32% equity needed to call. We have 8 outs once so roughly 16% chance of making the straight or. This part can get confusing. We are being laid 2.2/1 but we actually need about 5/1 (16%) to make the call. We can calculate how much money we have to win on the river and guesstimate if we are likely to get paid enough or not.

It is best to think of his bet as 1 unit ($25) If we take the 5/1 needed and deduct our immediate pot odds of 2.2/1 we get a difference of 2.8 units. We multiply 2.8 by his bet size of 25 to get the amount we need to make on the river to make calling break even. In this example, it is $70 (2.8 x 25 = 70) The pot will be $80 on the river after we call the turn. So we would need to win slightly less than a pot sized amount on the river to make it breakeven. This example is assuming you are not raising which then would get into fold equity. This is based on calling only.

This may sound a bit weird and confusing but it's really easy to do rough numbers like this with some practice 🙂

  5. Hey man – can you do one more 1/2 training guide video on how to treat having a large / regular stack and how to play against large/regular/small stack players in 1/2 live?

  6. This content is amazing. No body is making informative stuff like this for free. It's not boring like some of the other bad i watch

  7. I haven’t really seen the concept of implied odds til now. I’ve heard of them, but now I see the importance of using them at pre flop. So, thank you much for this video. I’m sure this info will be very helpful to me in the future. I do have a couple of “dumb” questions.

Question one: Do we use implied odds before the flop, then afterward, get into pot odds (I’ve heard about this before)? I know with pot odds, you can count your outs (I.e. eight outs for an open ended straight draw times four means approx 32%) then see if a villain’s bet is worth the call based on his bet size.

Question two: in your previous video, it seemed as if you said we should be playing a tighter range at one-two than shown here, and some suited gappers and connectors mentioned in this video, were left out in the previous video, even for a limping range. I understand suited gappers and connectors can bring in money if you know how to use them (and I have been able to execute some of these hands in the past). However, Where I have been doing poorly at poker recently (feels like months now), should I ignore the 20:1, 30:1 implied odds and ditch these hands and perhaps play a tighter range until I get the hang of things?

  8. You got a good point but you also have to understand bankroll Dictate the way you play if you have more than enough you were risk $40 will Parkette 44you’ll probably risk $100 or pocket 44
