  1. The queen of diamonds is good in the river. The ace of diamonds is slightly bad because he can has more nut flushes. However, if he is over tricky and will usually turn naked a of diamonds into a bluff

  2. All depends on the read and the opponent, but I think this is a fold, you run into a ton of boats, overpairs, and 3's. Not sure there are enough bluffs in his range.

  3. Bart usually plays against skilled professionals. The people who listen to him play in small stakes games where the players are bad. Or sometimes larger stakes with dubious players.

One key feature of lower stakes or less skilled games is that players don’t bluff large on the river as often as they “should.” Quotes because beginners and clueless players often call huge bets with very little, so maybe river bluffs should be rare.

  4. Personally I would have to have aces before considering a call on the river in this spot. That way at least I beat Kings. However I lose to all flushes, boats, and 3's so I'm not beating much.

  5. Poker in 2018:

"I knew that calling was the correct play, and it was. I did it, and after that I felt like an guy."

  6. Sounds like a shove, but hating it. Get AA and KK to fold. Opponent might be doing the Bart Hanson bet/fold line. Maybe we can even get a 3 to fold.

  7. It always suck, when the opponent gets there on the end, and especially when it turn out, he was this far behind. But its part of the game and does not mean, we did anything wrong. The big money is lost or won on the river, but actually its so close in this spot, that it does not really matter, if you call or fold, so you can just toss a coin about it, or go with your read on Villain. And of course you are going to be wrong sometimes, thats also part of the game.

The one thing, Hero could perhaps have done differently in this hand, was actually to lead the flop for value. But again with a specific read on Villain, that he C-bet to much, checking your entire range to him is also fine. I dont see, why we would check-raise though, since this was really a way ahead way behind spot. Check-raising just allow him to fold a lot of his junk, whereas calling give him a chance to bet again on the turn with hands, that are way behind. Which in fact he did.
