  3. My worst downswing online was around 100 buyins. Losing 5-10 buyins isn’t a downswing, that’s a bad night.

  5. Even deciding to include a segment titled "How to avoid downswings" is problematic. Even though you qualified it with a comment of "you'll never be able to avoid them completely" just having the thought that they're in any way avoidable is unrealistic and, more importantly, unhealthy. If you are going to play poker for a considerable amount of time, you WILL have MULTIPLE downswings. Unfortunately, there are way too many poker players who believe increasing their skills (studying) will affect the way the cards hit the felt. When put this way, it sounds ridiculous…because it is. Rather than thinking you have to subdue luck, a better idea is to accept it. And better yet…embrace it. Know it's coming. Welcome it when it arrives. Be curious about it instead of agitated. Don't demand that it end sooner rather later. If someone doesn't experience a downswing, then they have not really experienced poker. No one is immune from it except someone who decides to start their career and retire after the first session that nets them a return on their bankroll.

  7. 6 to 10 buy Ins lol. I lost 30 buy Ins over a 3 month period last year. Soul crushing. I wound up winning it all back and booking a decent profit for the year. But losing 6 buy ins is nothing.
