Poker Hands – Slow Playing the Stone Cold NUTS?

Poker Tips Video Source & Information:

In the final hand of our Rounders series, Mike McDermot takes on Teddy KGB for one last showdown. It’s a hand reminiscent of the 1988 WSOP (World Series of Poker) Final Table between Johnny Chan and Eric Seidel, referenced earlier in the movie. Mike flops the nut straight and checks every street.

Every decision counts, as Mike is literally playing for his life. Doug takes a step back and sorts out all the deceptive moves, 5x overbets, button reversals, and other oddities that go down in this infamous hand of Texas Hold’em.

Poker Hands is the show where Doug analyzes live poker hands from tv poker shows such as Poker After Dark, EPT (European Poker Tour), High Stakes Poker, the Aussie Millions, WPT (World Poker Tour) the Big One For One Drop, and the PCA (Pokerstars Carribean Adventure). He especially enjoys reviewing hands by popular high stakes pros like Viktor “Isildur” Blom, Ike Haxton, Dan Cates (Jungleman), Tom “Durrrr” Dwan, Phil Ivey, and OtB_RedBaron.

  1. Hey Doug,. Did you ever consider naming the channel Polker Hands . Get it? Just like your last name

  2. 8 5? J9? Why would that necessarily be the draw? He could easily have something like A8 Suited or something. It doesn’t necessarily have to be open ended…just sayin

  3. Looking at 2 pair? What are you talking about lol. Putting him on a draw or maybe pocket jacks or queens makes way more sense than putting him on 10 7 for a two pair lol. Plus he keeps checking which is a tell tale sign of being on a draw

  4. Doug you are the dumbest poker that ever played poker. What don’t you shut your mouth and watch and learn. You don’t how to play poker. Go play with yourself!

  5. The hand is absolutely ridiculous to any real poker player. They could have made it less so by simply having two matching suits on the flop. So when Teddy asks "are you on a draw" Mike could potentially have a hand like a pair with a flush draw or even just over cards with a flush draw. Then the river card could have Mike over bet jam all-in on a potentially missed draw after just check calling the flop & turn. Putting Teddy to a tough decision & eventually calling off. Once Teddy's huge over bet is called on the flop he just continued to toss all his chips in the pot without any concern for what Mike is possibly holding. And why don't they show Teddy's hand as a flopped set to perhaps make his lack of caution more believable.
