  1. A month- long downswing had me about to quit playing all together. Yesterday I placed 5th in a live tournament of 60 people. Glad I gave it another shot.

  2. If you play a lot of poker you will experience highs and lows. You have to prepare yourself mentally and have a bankroll that can handle some losses.

  3. Remember a session I had some 20 years ago at 20-40 or 30-60 limit HE, practically the last time I played that game.

Couldn't catch a cold that day, and a guy I knew slightly was on my right most of the afternoon. He made a remark towards the end of that run to the effect that I had stayed calm. I made some offhand comment and let it drop; I had also seen enough of his table demeanour to know that he would have been steaming within the first hour.

There was a pro who once said to a friend: I've known days when GOD couldn't win, but more often than not, when you've had a bad month, you had something to do with it. Never forgot that, and always try to analyse my play as cold-bloodedly as possible.
