  1. Re Taiwan look at the elections that have just happened
The pro western government has just lost hugely

    Containing China ?
Who gave our manufacturing jobs to China
    Our oligarchs
And very rich they have become

China didn’t come in the middle of the night and steal western jobs and manufacturing

Have to disagree with JM on the Chinese situation
I’m more in line with Col Macgregor on this issue
Especially re Chinese fears about Taiwan being used against it just as Japan used it

It’s quite possible that the Uni Polar Moment is coming to an end

  2. i think russia has done extremely well all things considered with only 200k troops so far. if this had been just against the afu they would have won long ago (who had 3.5 times as many troops) but we kept throwing more and more into the mix. now europe is starting to run out of equipment and their economies and political institutions are imploding along with mass protests and all the rest. and if the reinforcements arrive and have success it will demonstrate that russia has been fighting with one hand behind their backs the whole time trying NOT to destroy the country in a large invasion.

  3. When Zelensky said he was ready to start peace negotiations, the US, UK and EU didn't want peace. They gave Ukraine more money and weapons to keep the war going. Following his visit to Ukraine, the EU’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, tweeted: “This war must be won on the battlefield.” Supporting neo-Nazism has become the accepted norm in the UK, EU etc. In goosestep with the corporate-controlled US. In 2016 the US banned weapons to Ukraine militia linked to neo-Nazis. In 2017 the US lifted the ban. The US/UK/EU anti-Putin, anti-Russia demonising has been cranked up since Russia intervened in Syria, a full year after the U.S. was supposedly bombing ISIS. Instead, the U.S. was protecting ISIS convoys of stolen oil, convoys of ISIS fighters and weaponry, etc. Without Russia, Syria would now be ruled by the duped head-chopping proxies of the U.S., U.K. etc. Then, the U.S. and U.K. would get public support to invade Syria. The US still illegally controls 80% of Syria's oil fields.

  4. Mearsheimer is not a military expert. Like most people in the West, he is fooled by Western propaganda. The Russian military did not perform badly as Western propagandist would have us to believe. Russia went in with a limited force for achieving a limited objectives. Russia has since replied to Western escalation by mobilizing more troops. Which again shows that the escalation always come from the West. Anyways, the military operation is just a small part of the total war, which is mostly economic and diplomatic. Surprisingly, the West is losing on both fronts.

  5. The realistic question is, might the US drop a nuclear bomb in Ukraine, if the russians are crushing the Ukrainians and winning? I would be interested in Prof Mearsheimers opinion.

  6. Thank you – at last some common sense. More sense from Jacques Baud and Jeffrey Sachs. Military. – war on the ground facts -available from Colonel Douglas McGregor as well . The voices NOT heard on MSM.

  7. Ever thought of Russia’s strategy of slowly bleeding the EU & Nato instead of a quick victory ? See what The EU & possibly Nato became today.

  8. No Japanese speakers were being shelled for 8 years by US prior Pearl Harbor Japanese attacks.

Freddie, Donbas people could also be called "the plucky little guy" seeking self determination similar to many in Scotland, seeking autonomy, but under very violent conditions after French and German peace interventions to hold things together were ignored – twice.

    See

A bankrupt & energy desperate Europe being flooded with weapons isn't the way to peace and prosperity for humanity.

See OSCE reports of escalation long before 24 Feb 22 and Bloomberg declaration of invasion back in December 21. Rather like recent media attempted escalation with Poland struck by wayward Air defence missile.
