3 Reasons Every Gamer Should Learn POKER

  1. Don't shuffle like that at a real card table. Learn the dealer's shuffle so you stop flashing the bottom cards. Also, this vid is great. Poker is my second favorite game behind Go. In fact I play Go with my left hand because it just feels normal due to playing with poker chips 🙂

  2. I think poker has a big problem in the imperfect information games class: it's only a good game if played with real money ( as if you're playing just a few games for fun there's no disincentive to going all in and making illogical bets), but that creates problems of access and inequality, as what's someone's throwaway bet might be someone else's budget for the month.
    And that's even discounting the gambling addiction problems, which are huge. If you do start making poker content, I'd make sure to always remind people to, like any kind of gambling game, only put in money you can afford to lose, and treat that money as a sunk cost, as a price of admission. There are many other precautions like this that should be a prerequisite to actually trying to play real poker.
    I think there are many good games of imperfect information that don't have this huge problem that poker has. Bridge and other complex trick taking games can have as much strategy long term, including probability and risk management, without the issues that poker has.

  3. In order of learning: Chess, Poker, Go… In order of wisdom, Poker, Go, Chess… In terms of profitability: Poker, poker, poker.

  4. Neat video! Poker really does seem like its got some interesting stuff going on with it. Have a habit of letting others leech money (in-game/fake currency, not real currency (thank goodness)) off me when I try and stay in hands I should know better than to bet on at times, only to fold later on, but the game's still noice nonetheless. ;u;

  5. it would be nice to know your opinion on backgammon too since it involves a combination of strategy and luck! 😀 Greetings from a friend in Mexico
