Most player types, especially nits and TAGs, implement an ABC poker strategy. Learn what it is and if you too should play ABC with this free guide: https://www.splitsuit.com/abc-poker-the-simple-strategy

This player types concept video covers the 6 different types of players you will come up against when playing NLHE cash games and how to beat them. The 6 general types of players are:

1. Nits — Rocks
2. Tags — Tight-aggressive players, Regs
3. Lags — Loose-aggressive players
4. A-Fish — Aggressive fish, Maniacs
5. P-Fish — Passive fish, Calling stations
6. Unknowns

**Hint** Nits and TAGs tend to use a small ball approach. See the pros/cons of playing small ball poker in this video: https://youtu.be/Z19TIK9Alow

For each of these different players types, SplitSuit goes over:
• How to identify the type of player (occasionally using VPIP/PFR stat examples). Use this video if you need help with the poker hud: http://youtu.be/9MLFfC9TCiA
• How to play profitably against them.
• A few hand history examples of how to play optimally against them.

  1. I've always wondered where the term 'nit' comes from. Various sea-based poker terms have always made sense to me based on the cannibalistic nature of the oceans, but a hair-dwelling parasite's egg for a super-tight player? Does anyone know where the term came from?

  2. Hey I'd appreciate if someone responded to me. So I rarely raise preflop, which according to this video I'd be classified as a fish (1/2 NL). Yet I'm a winning player. $25/hr…over 500 hours. Not the biggest sample size of course but do you guys really find it impossible to just occasionally call (VPIP) and rarely raise and still make good money? People in low stakes are so bad I feel that if you play tight, virtually nitty, you'll make good money.

  3. I wouldn't triple bet a nit, you do that against players chasing draws, if I wanted to hit a draw that bad I would check it to you and go all in after you bet.

  4. Great content but you really need to improve the sound quality of the video.
