He Goes ALL IN–Should I Call??

Texas Holdem Strategy Video Source & Information:

Had a few requests for some input on my thinking in this hand from the Run It Up Live Home Game this week. We’re playing $5/$5 no limit texas hold ’em with a $5 ante, AND there’s a straddle, AND a bounty on the 32. “The Skinny” is a famous hand that is making it’s way to Vegas apparently, as we see the hand get taken to the streets in a big way. Is AQ good enough to call down with here, or will the fear of looking like a calling station have us tossing this hand into the muck?

  1. Here's a great 1-2 combo for improving at poker:

  2. If your plan was to flat preflop to induce him to bluff off his stack with 23o, well… Would be a little silly to fold when he jams the river.

  3. Neeme lets see you make that all in call when the 23 game is not on.. i bet you fold like a lawn chair.. the legendary Jeff Boski would make the call

  4. Andrew, in answer to your question (having watched the video to the point that the river comes):

    Yes, you should call.

    🙂

  5. I’ll say it: this “blocker” nonsense needs to be renamed. You can call your Ah a blocker for the nut heart flush, but you definitely do not block AA, KQ, etc., like you said. I understand what you mean, and what everyone else means when they say “blocker”. But your hand, by definition, doesn’t block the occurrence of AA. You remove an ace, allowing for a much less chance of that happening. But to say it “blocks” AA, is untrue, and that’s changing the definition of what “blocking” something means. And this situation is not the same as actually blocking a heart nut flush if you have the A of hearts, or blocking quads on a 994K6 board when you have a 9. <— these are blockers. The blockers you’ve described in this hand, only partially block hands, but not fully. It just needs a new name, that’s all. Maybe a “semi-blocker”? But to deny there is a difference in the above situations that I have stated, is pure ignorance IMO. Please stop saying blockers for these situations! 😌👍🏻
