Doesn’t Phil Hellmuth employ a preservation based strategy? Whatever else you think of the guy, he seems to have a fairly good tournament results. The Key concept seems to be trading a current advantage for a later larger advantage. It seems to me that in tournaments you need to avoid play styles where you’re going to have to win a 60% chance a large number of times.
