Playing mixed strategies is a key part of winning poker. You may not know what a mixed strategy is but you probably still use it.

A mixed strategy is playing different ways with the same hand. For example if you were to bet half the time with top pair weak kicker and check the other half in order to protect your check range.

Playing a mixed strategy is often recommended by GTO solvers in order to obtain balanced poker ranges.

In this video we look at a few situations where playing a mixed strategy is a good idea.

We look at a number of 3bet pots where we can play a mixed strategy of either checking or betting on a board we did not connect with. We also look at a check raising and double barreling opportunities.
