Tipping while playing live poker, like tipping in any service job, is done differently based on different factors like stake, location, or how good of a job you feel the dealer is doing.

A ‘baseline’ when playing low stakes live poker might be tipping $1 on most pots you win with more for larger pots won or when the dealer is doing a great job facilitating the game.

You can always be more generous and tip more, but tipping too much can eat into your winrate.

When playing high stakes games you might end up in a situation like Phil describes here, where every dealer change a rake pot is played and the winner of that pot tips the dealer.

If you’re building huge chip stacks already but still looking for how to improve at Pot Limit Omaha, No Limit Hold ‘em, or big bet poker in general, Phil Galfond is here to teach you how to think like a professional poker player.

Are you a new poker player or a poker beginner? Do you just need the best Texas Hold’em poker strategy and best Pot Limit Omaha poker tips, or do you have a high stakes poker related question you’d like a poker professional’s advice on?

  1. Luckily in Europe I would imagine most dealers are actually paid by casino's.

  2. A single $25 tip for the dealers entire time dealing in a high stakes game??? Yall some nit tippers.

  3. where I live it's illegal to tip dealers or any other casino staff. tipping at the table would feel so weird.

  4. In Sweden we are not allowed to tip the dealers, they have like 3000$ a month in salary and the rake is 10% with a max cap at 10$ per pot.

  5. Don’t tip the dealers…you’re paying the games rake and then an added rake does dealers salary. love sake this whole culture pisses me off
