That is really just the math working out. I calculated that if you did this strategy on a coin flip bet with a 1:1 payout, no matter when you stop, the odds are still 100% even. This strategy only works if you can continue indefinitely. This is stopped by casinos having a maximum bet, so eventually, you'll just lose a bunch of money.
