5 Reasons I’m Glad Casinos Can Back Players Off

Blackjack Tips Information & Video Source:

I strongly dislike casinos (to put it nicely), and especially how they treat advantage players.

And every backoff sucks as a card counter. That being said, there are some positives to the dreaded “backoff,” and I wanted to share them with you.

Let me know what you think!

  1. Not everyone can be a successful card counter, but here's a few unexpected factors that helped me early on: https://youtu.be/U6yN5lxCF04

  2. I lost a lot of money then I figured out how to earn money in rollette where in 1st case I had to wait 3 hours to get my money and 2nd case I was approached to play a different table is this a kind of back off???

  3. Thanks so much for the videos Colin. I've been a BJ player for 10+ years and maybe my first attempt to count cards at the El Cortez last week. Double Deck, great penetration. Was up $500 within a half hour and got backed off, told I could play any game in the casino but BJ. Funny how the same pitboss was smiling when i shelled out $300, but smiling when I won 3 big hands in a row and told to leave.

  4. This was a reasonable perspective and I wish more card counters were like this, although I still think your hatred of casinos is misguided. I'm a floorman and I don't understand why card counters are so obtuse with us when they get busted. Floormen who can count don't really harbor any vitriol towards card counters but the reason casinos offer liberal blackjack rules at all is to create a razor thin edge that attracts customers; if we took away the edge entirely we would not be in business. If you can count, good for you, but you are not profitable to us. It's not personal. When card counters bitch about, "YOU ONLY WANT LOSERS!" that is so childish and naive. We don't care if any INDIVIDUAL wins or loses, what we care about is that in the long term we can apply our edge to a sum of many bets and hold a piece of all the action we take; card counters interfere with the profit model. It would be like going to a bar with your own drinks and when being rebuked by staff going, "OOOOOOH! I get it! You only want people to drink in here if they PAY for YOUR drinks." Well… yeah, that's how their business works. You pay for a service, in this case you pay for the slightly skewed possibility of beating the house in the form of the edge in that it is slightly more likely that you will be among the majority of individuals who lose. This has been and always will be the principle of gambling houses and if you have a problem with that unassailable reality, why not just ban casinos? For the most part we don't dislike card counters, we even admire guys that take it well when being backed off and behave like gentlemen. It is simply our responsibility to protect the house edge. On the other hand, the vast majority of card counters seem to think pit bosses and floormen are the scum of the earth.

  5. Would they back you off of a game like roulette? I went on a 5 day winning streak but never got backed off.

  6. In my country u are not called a dick (lol 1:44) for winning in a casino, instead your chips are confiscated, then u are banned, then you are called a poes! Please post video of better disguises. I'm out of ideas.
