  1. agreed … Agreed … AGREED — Toyota 'nailed it' on this 'used to be practical' only Hybrid … & sure the Prius Prime will be 'THE 2023 Toyota'! Looks GREAT, too!

  2. It's great but some press photos had it in a very attractive yellow. Toyota now has a build & price tool and the yellow is not available.

  3. Awd, not really needed unless your in the snowbelt ❄️…more $, more $ to repair, less mpg, and heavier

  4. Toyota might have winner with this one. Actually, it's a good looking vehicle with a lot of nice features, great mileage, decent performance and a price that isn't too crazy. I love my V8 cars but the gas consumption is costing me on my daily commute. This would probably be a great commuter, I have to admit.

  5. It does make one wonder: If the Prius could look like this and still get 57 MPG all along then why has it looked like a chalkboard eraser for so long? I have a theory. I think Toyota has been kind of behind the eight ball on the industry's transition to battery electric vehicles* and they know it, so they are pulling out all the stops to keep people with them while they scramble to catch up in that area.

    * Toyota and Honda both spent well over 10 years chasing the fantasy of hydrogen fuel cell technology, pumping billions of dollars into the project and to this day they have very little to show for their efforts. Sales have been extremely pitiful: Only about 5000 HFC cars sold each year between Toyota, Honda and Hyundai – COMBINED. And infrastructure has fallen far behind: In over ten years of trying there are still only about 50 or 60 hydrogen fueling stations in the US and almost all of them are in California. [note: For passenger cars, HFC is not the answer, but for certain types of trucking industries it could make a lot of sense].

  6. Let's see. This is the new Prius, so much better than the old one? It is a beauty but let's look at my Hybrid and plug-in for 2021 and 2022. Both are easy to get in and out of. Both have lots of room and that includes the back seat (also head room). Without plugging it in, you can get up to 50 mpg. If you use the plug, you can get up to 90 mpg. If you run out of electricity, you keep going because both have gas engines. Oh, but the engine is small and can't accelerate very fast off a traffic light. BALONEY! Here's a secret….at the start, both engine and battery combine for acceleration. I have NEVER been beaten off a light in 2 years!
    Can you say TORQUE?
    The big problem here is that in many states (my Michigan) trying to get the Toyota Prius is like finding a unicorn with a gold horn!!! Good luck!

  7. Gen 5 Prius is a huge missed opportunity to make a 60+mpg car with more practicality than before. Prius came to life on a mission of incredible fuel efficiency and practical space. The new model disappoints on all that. The car is instead faster and good looking but in real life that translates in far less space inside and mpg that will not match the previous gen 4 Prius. This car doesn’t need 200HP, with that power it will be impossible to achieve better mpg than before. Inside you can’t fit in if you’re 6 foot tall and beyond. And what do you do with the greatly improved 0-60 time? What is that good for?? The cargo fits less things than before and you don’t have spare tire in all but the base model. Not to mention the price. Such a wrong turn they took to satisfy journalists and speed enthusiasts instead of continuing its initial mission.

  8. With the e-cvt it does the opposite from normal cars. The revs select what gear your in rather then gears selecting revs.
