Dark Side Craps – Direct Lays and Place to Lose … to win at craps!

Craps Strategy Video Information:

A Direct Lay on a number is another way to get action on the 7. Unlike a proper Don’t bet, a lay bet is only odds. It’s got the advantage of allowing you to pick the number you want to fight, but there’s a steep cost for that right.

==================== SHOW NOTES =========================

What is a direct lay?

“Exactly” the same as Don’t Pass Odds
… But with 1 exception:

The odds pay “true” only after you pay the tax.

For the right to bypass the come out and avoid the 7/11:

– No Flat 1:1 payout
– You will a 5% commission (Vigorish or “vig”)
– Tax on your winnings
– Paid with your bet
– … or at payout

Pros:
– Bypass the danger of the Come Out roll on the Don’t

Cons:
– Requires a 5% tax, or “Vig”
– Sometimes non-refundable
– Cannot turn a lay bet “off” (can be removed)
– Not self service

Odds pay according to actual probability of loss, just as with the Don’t Pass odds

Lay the correct amount!

On the 4 & 10, you are a 2:1 favorite, odds pay 1:2
– Any bet of an even amount will work

On the 5 & 9, you are 3:2 favorite, odds pay 2:3
– Odds bets here must be divisible by 3 (i.e. $15, $24, $60, etc)

On the 6 & 8, you are a 6:5 favorite, odds pay 5:6
– Odds bets here must be divisible by 6 (i.e. $24, $30, $60, etc)

  2. If you play at a table for 150-200 rolls per session It would take you 50-66 sessions to get to 10K rolls. Better to chart for "that game" and play the way the dice are rolling aka Do, Don't, choppy etc. Remember "every" system will win on occasion and that same system will fail on occasion depending on the energy of the table and how the dice are rolling. My favorite comment over the years has been "WELL the seven is going roll every six rolls." Really, Well if that was really was the case we would just stand there and count 1,2,3,4,5 and then hop the 7 for $300. Try that and see how that works out for you?? All these computer systems give you the probability of what is" likely to happen." The keyword is "likely" it doesn't mean it's going to happen it just means it's likely that it could happen? I hear the weatherman saying it's" likely" to rain tomorrow but that doesn't mean it's going to rain. Just saying— better to be safe you might as well take an umbrella.

  3. Okay so what if you bet most of the money on your place to lose in this case on 4. Then place money on the hard 4 while also placing a bet on HOP. The odds for both the hardaway 4 and HOP 3 & 1 completely outweigh other bets since they pay a little differently. This is not on a actual live table more on a roll to win electric table.

  4. Great videos. I enjoy your content. Very detailed and informative. Keep up the good work 👍
