In this video, you learn how to interact with the chips in a professional dealer bank just like you would learn in a poker dealer school. Below are the concepts discussed in the video.
A good way to practice with real casino chips is to just go buy them at your local casino and then give them back when you are done.
If you don’t have a rack (A.K.A. well, bank, tray), you can just put a stack of chips in your hand to practice most of these techniques.
Plucking chips – To pluck a chip, put your middle finger on the chip, pull the chip up onto your thumb and then slide your index finger onto it. The next chip you pluck would then slide onto the previous chip you plucked and then you slide that chip in a stack under your index finger. This can be done without looking and with a combination of denominations.
Pinching chips – To pinch chips, eyeball the number of chips you want to get, and then pinch them with your thumb and index finger.
To figure out how many chips are in a stack, push the stack forward and then pinch them back in the same increment that you would cut that denomination. Avoid pulling stacks of chips out of the tray during poker play to count them. They can get mixed up with the pot and lead to a confusing and frustrating situation.
To create a 20-stack, use previously proven 20-stacks whenever possible.
Never cross your hands while dealing.
When organizing your bank, hold spacers in your weak hand’s palm and move the chips with your other hand most of the time.
Only one short stack per denomination, with spacers between the chips in the same increments that you would cut them.
Organize the cash in the well all facing the direction that makes getting fills and buy-ins as easy as possible with the largest denominations toward the inside for game protection and consistency.
At the end, we count the bank by counting the cash and figuring out how much in chips is left over and then counting the chips. We point out how difficult it would be to count a bank without organization.

The only thing I would be a little afraid of is the dealer job being phased out by some robot, but the dealing job is complicated enough and the feeling of having cards and betting with chips is pure enough, that I don't see it being phased out anytime soon. It could certainly change a lot, but dealers will likely still be needed in my opinion.

what is that thing to the right of the bank? I saw that in the casino the one time I played poker too but i have no idea what it is. Anyone?

I want to go to a croupier academy, but my math skills are sometimes below average but I have verbal abilities and i'm bilingual. Also, my hands tend to sweat when I'm nervous or under pressure. Do you think that would be an issue or an obstacle? Thanks
Great explanation of the plucking. I was having trouble with this in class because I was pulling the 2nd, 3rd, etc. chips to the back of my index finger instead of to the chips I already had pulled. As soon as I tried what you showed, I instantly had it down. Thanks!
What is the slot that was at the left corner next to the tray? Is it used if the money in the tray is too much and the dealer needs a more secure place to put it?
