I like your simplified approach. I used to do alright playing tight, but I felt I became to exploitable and when I tried to be more aggressive and loose I seemed to burn a lot of chips rarely having successful sessions.
I try to study and get advice but it seems to run me into more trouble. It's hard to take certain advice and know how and when to apply that knowledge. For instance I was over folding I felt like, then I was over calling. Was not betting/bluffing enough, then bluffing or betting too often. It's really hard to find that perfect balance but I like how you simplified everything, and I think it's okay to mix strategies depending on the table.
