Even Phil Galfond has seen good players struggle while playing on poker tables filled with loose passive poker players.

It’s important to remember that the quality of hand that is going to be good against one or two poker players is not the same quality as one that’s good against a lot of opponents, the more players in the pot the higher your threshold for putting in a lot of money should be.

If we’re playing NLH – we always love getting value with our high pair hands but hands like high flush draws (Ace Queen and Ace Five suited for example) will increase in value while hands like King Queen offsuit go down in value as more opponents see the flop.

It’s also really important to figure out how often you’ll succeed in getting players to fold preflop and, on the other side of the coin, figure out how large you can raise and still get limp-callers.

As Phil says in today’s video, it’s really about figuring out how often you’re going to see a flop multiway and which hands want to see a flop multiway.

If you’re building huge chip stacks already but still looking for how to improve at pot limit omaha, no limit hold ‘em, or poker in general, Phil Galfond is here to teach you how to think like a professional poker player.

  1. Hi Phil, as you are the PLO end boss, can you mention any nuances when the game is live PLO?

  2. Open limpers should be seen as dangerous, sure it's weak to open limp but ur range opens up so much that opponents only ahead with 10s+ or AKs. Even then u need a clean flop to really hold. And so I think adjusting is more about getting the open limpers to adjust, so u really have to sit tighter and when u get great hands make the opponent pay. Then they'll start adjusting accordingly. 😊

  3. I built my bank roll with this. Especially when I get in games that have 10x-15x bb 6-way flops. When your 1/3 game is playing like a passive 5/10, you've found the right table.

  4. Also most people don’t limp fold so knowing which hands to squeeze bigger to eliminate some of the limpers. Can’t squeeze 5x because 99% of the time everyone will call

  5. Straight Limp’n an’ Lamp’n …V-pimp’n an’ Limp’n like a poss outchyer

  6. I play a PLO home game where there are regularly 8-9 players, either 4-card or 5-card omaha. Every player limps 99% of the time, raises rarely. I tend to just limp everything and go for large value post-flop when I have it since they tend to be stations.

    Is this ideal?
