Living in Texas bomb pots are standard in just about every cardroom. My personal opinion is that hold em bomb pots must be two boards in order to be fun. Single board nlhe bomb pots are pointless. While PLO bomb pots should be spread as their own game and not jammed into nlhe games at dealer changes. We pay time in Texas and plo bomb pots take for…ev…er to play out. So it is best just being it's own game.

Running twice is such bad ev either run 1/3 times but really should only run once.
Truthfully I only play limit poker and have never played a bomb pot. I would love to start playing no limit regularly but am not comfortable in the game so watching you is very exciting 😀 👍
Bomb pots suck. A much better option is a game called Pot/Fold (Pot or Fold). The idea is similar, everyone sees a flop for a predetermined amount (usually 5x BB) but everyone has 5 or 6 cards depending on how many players are participating. Your hand must use 2 of your hole cards like in Omaha. The only action takes place on the flop, but the only options you have are bet pot or fold. The first player can pot or fold, once a player has potted the flop, all remaining players can only call or fold, you cannot raise. The turn and river are then dealt with no further action permitted. Its a good way of pumping the action but also limiting the amount you can lose.

The Card room I play in they will have a bomb pot at the dealer change. It is a 2-3 game and some guys want to bump up the bomb pot to $20 each. Everyone has to agree to the size of the bet and there is a small amount of encouragement to kick in the full $20. As for me, I will play them for $10/15 per player and you don’t have to play if you don’t want to.
