How to make your first $10’000 in Poker – My Bankroll Challenge Announcement

Learn Poker Video Source & Info:

Hey guys, this video will be a bit different. I want to first of all thank you guys that have been leaving comments on my videos with support and questions, but especially feedback on what you would like to see.

From reading the comments, I know a lot of people would like to know how to build and grow a poker bankroll effectively, exactly how to approach moving up in stakes or taking shots and what mentality it takes to be a consistent winner in poker.

This video is my answer to all of you guys. I talk about how I would approach poker right now if I had a small bankroll but wanted to get serious about it.

It’s very important to be realistic when dealing with poker. It’s very hard to build a bankroll off no money, playing freerolls and the nano stakes.

If you have less than $500 or $1000, I would actually recommend doing something other than poker to acquire that starting bankroll to actually play with.

As in any business, you will additionally need money to invest in your expertise and tools, like poker training, access to communities and poker tracking software.

If this is a priority for you, then you will also need to make time for poker. At the beginning you will want to study and play at about a 50/50 ratio, and if it is seriously important to you, you will at least have to spend 15-20 hours a week.

While playing the low or micro stakes, we will be making at most some hundreds of dollars a week. This is fine because at the beginning it’s really about the learning process, figuring out what works, what doesn’t, your routine, and learning more about poker strategy.

During these months, your poker bankroll starts growing and you start taking shots at the next stake to test the waters. After many hours put into the game, the bankroll builds and starts to snowball. The hardest part is at the beginning to achieve the momentum.

When you finally reach $10k, in terms of time it might not make sense directly but what you will have at this point in terms of potential is great.

You now have the possibility of playing stakes to actually make a decent amount of money per month and the knowledge and confidence of having gone through the journey.

Anyway, I have decided to make an official Bankroll Challenge where I will be starting out with a $1’000 roll. We will play 25plo and I will show you step-by-step the decisions and effort it takes to build a bankroll playing low stakes poker in 2017.

We will go through everything from choosing poker sites, rake and bonus considerations, table selection, using tools to review our play, improving our learning skills, taking shots at higher stakes and being responsible with our poker bankroll.

I am looking to cover basically everything that is needed to win your first $10k in poker, and I will be streaming it all on YouTube.

If you are in a similar position where you are ready to begin a similar challenge or one of your own, let me know in the comments you are part of the #plotribe and let’s do this together. I’ve got your back!

  1. Hey Jnando, man I really enjoyed this video! I'm doing my own challenge to 50k but this is so much more manageable so I've changed my challenge as a result of watching your video! How to get in touch with you? Cheers!

  2. First and annoyingly most, he is taking on this endeavor….not endeavorment. Second…he starts his advice by saying "To build a bankroll, you must have a bankroll."..wtf?

  3. i am a very good player but with a law discipline and very tilt i can build up a bankroll but in one session i can lose all that money due to my tiltness and lack of a discipline. can you tell how to overcome this issue?

  4. Great vid Fernando.
Here are my tips for up and coming plo crushers:
    1) you 100% need at least 100 buyins! 40 buyins is NOT enough for beginners or average skilll players. plo variance is THE nastiest bitch you will ever have.
    2) IF you dont want to deposit 2-3k from outside poker here is my tip: grind micro stakes mtts (1-5$ buyin) for the roll. They are super soft and not too hard to be a 50%+ roi winner in.

  5. Grinding out a bankroll is possible. I'm kind of lucky as I seem to be a natural at poker and understanding logic. Since the poker boom I've been able to come and go and just keep winning. I used to make a lot of cash, it is much much harder now I notice however I deposited $40 and I'm at $400 within 3 weeks now playing 5% bankroll management. No study required. It's def possible. Even if your breaking even vs regs and really hammering any mistake like overplayed aces or calling when you have the overpair.
