  1. The commentators get it wrong when they say that the player who win on showdown should kick themselves when there is a big pot to which both players are committed, and all they did after the river is check behind. In the hand at 1 hr 42 min or thereabouts, this situation arose with a pot of nearly one half million. The loser checked the winner checked. To me if the second to bet had not checked behind and instead had bet, that gives the initial one more opportunity to rethink their course. If they had decided to check raise instead of calling or folding, but re-raised – possibly even shoving, with a huge bet as a bluff, the second to bet might sense they had been baited, and maybe their two pair was not really the best hand. Two pair is often a winner by the river but there so many hands that beat it, to respond to the re-raise categorically with call may be a risk the person with two pair feels is too great and then folds a hand they otherwise may have won with. Therefore it is perfectly acceptable and sustainable long term strategy under game optimal theory to be content with the existing pot size and simply check.
